ElizaG Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I am applying for Fall 213 for my MSW. I love Boston so I have looked at both BC and BU. With every application requiring its own essay, I don't want to go overboard with applications. I am trying to decide between BC and BU for my Boston option. My interest is in foster care and adoption (and child welfare in general) doing direct practice. Is anyone else considering these programs? I would love any insight that you have. Is it worth it to apply to both? Another important factor for me are also how progressive the school and study body are, so with BC being a Jesuit school I would love to know how much that influences the school of social work? Any information would be helpful! Thank you
citychild Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 My first year of undergraduate was at a Jesuit university. Keep in mind, I was not a social work major at the time--however, it seemed the Jesuit university was more service oriented than my current (now social work) program. Personally, I value this and enjoyed that university enormously (however, it was not in Boston). Have you ever looked into Simmons?
ElizaG Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 I briefly looked at their website but I know that I need to consider it more. Do you know anything about it?
michigan girl Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Boston College, Boston University, Smith College, and Simmons College are all good choices for clinical social work in Massachusetts. Since all four are private universities, it basically comes down to which one offers you the best financial aid.
