Lorelei17 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Hello everyone, So I was accepted to both these schools, both with good funding offers. Now the location is REALLY important to me. I've been stuck in Central Pennsylvania for 2 years and rather miserable about its lack of culture, diversity of a real social life. I'm into film so it's a major thing to me to be around people who are as passionate about it as I am. So, which coast? West or East? And which campus is more in tune with my needs? thanks!
engimo Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 If you're looking for culture, Stony Brook is not the place to be. It is very much a commuter school, so about half the students leave on the weekend, and there is no real "college town" around it. You can take the train into NYC, if you'd like, but that gets expensive and is a bit of a hassle.
danubecities Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I'm not sure if Irvine is much better in that respect (culture wise and in terms of commuter students). Though Orange County does have a nice performing arts center and there are some smaller art museums. I guess the real question is would you rather be closer to New York or L.A.? CLANE 1
