liu126 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Hello, everyone! I plan to apply for stat master problem in fall 2013. I am an International student at a good-reputed public university major: econ, risk management and insurance minor: actuarial mathematics and statistics GPA: 4.0 GRE: acutally I have a bad verbal score V (146) Q(168) Toefl: not require don't have any much research and work experience about statistics have some scholarship (is it helpful for admission) a freshman award class I took: Calculus 1 with lab, Calculus 2 with lab, Vector Calculus, Probabil, Mathematical Statistics,Theory of Statistical Inference, Linear Algebra, Introduction to Econometrics ( regression analysis, introduction about SAS) for the last semester, I plan to take: Applied Stochastic Processes, Discrete Mathematics, and one course about regression, R (new course) In fact, I would like to apply for a top master program, but I don't think I am very competitive... I am afraid the low verbal score will influence my application. Could anybody give me some suggestion about which program I should apply for? Thank you very much. I appreciate that.
cyberwulf Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I wouldn't worry about your GRE verbal score. It sounds like you are at a US university, in which case the fact that you achieved a 4.0 means that you were able to communicate in English well enough to succeed in your discipline. With stellar math grades, that should be sufficient to make you a good candidate.
