fortiesgirl Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I haven't heard from several of the schools to which I applied. With the exception of Hopkins, no one on the boards has posted any correspondance with any of the programs. I assume I've already been rejected, but it will take them awhile to notify me. I'm aware that a few of the programs will most likely not notify candidates until mid-March or so, but as for the others, should I contact them? Most of the application deadlines of the schools in question were Jan. 15, so I'm assuming that they run on a later calendar than the schools I've already heard from. thoughts?

RF237 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I wouldn't suggest contacting them until mid-March at the earliest. I'd second that suggestion. Like you said, most programs state they don't usually notify until mid-March, and you gotta feel bad for those admissions people and department secretaries dealing with endless inquiries about whether decisions have been made yet. If you haven't heard by March 15, then start sending out inquiries. I'm still waiting, as patiently as I can, on four programs, and it's killing me!
misterpat Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Yeah, I'm still waiting on 4 schools, too. Three deadlines were Dec 15 or before (Dec 1 in one case). I don't think it's irregular to still be waiting. I'd wait until near the latter half of March to start bugging them.
gallipoli Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Yes, I am waiting on three schools as well. With no acceptances as yet it has been very hard for me not to pick up the phone and dial them up. But I am trying the remain the master of this domain. I hope I don't break down before the ides of March - which I agree is a fair time to call. I would like my life back.
fortiesgirl Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 With everyone posting about their acceptances, I feel like I'm the only one who hasn't heard anything! It's good to know I'm not alone. I guess I'll just have to hold out.
petpolitics Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 still waiting for 5 schools. my top choice is among the 5 but is probably a longshot. the next 2 weeks will certainly be interesting.
gallipoli Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 @fortiesgirl: no you're not alone. yes it has been hard seeing all those exuberant reactions to accept decisions. i am on a university campus and everyday i bump into someone who has heard back from somewhere in the affirmative. i have begun internalizing the idea that i may have to go bat next year again. looks like you have one in the bag. good luck with the financial aid decision.
manilowese Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 is it time to contact yet? i am getting so anxious.
kahlan_amnell Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 is it time to contact yet? i am getting so anxious. Probably soon. I'm thinking I'll try to wait until the end of the month and contact if I haven't heard by then.
manilowese Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I'm only waiting on three: Brandeis, Notre Dame, and Northeastern. But I only applied to 4, so I'd love to hear something soon! I am going to try to hold out until this weekend, I think.
