  1. probably. i am waiting on my funding offer. and so nervous! this is my top choice, so i hope it works out.
  2. I have been accepted to four graduate programs. I have thrown out my fallback. And probably throwing out my dream school, Brandeis, because I don't think I will be able to provide the rest of my funding. So this leaves me with 2 potential schools, both for Public History. One of these schools has accepted me with a great funding package. The other school has only accepted and said that funding decisions would be sent out by April 15 at LATEST. My problem is that the first school asked me for an answer to their TA position by April 3. That leaves 12 days that the other school (the one I would prefer to accept) could contact me! I remember reading on the main history admissions topic that grad schools can't force a decision until April 15. Is this true? Is this also true for financial aid? I just feel like this is a bit ridiculous. I paid for all of those application fees and should be able to wait until every answer has come through before making a decision.
  3. i'm having issues with funding, too. i got offered 25% off tuition for the first year (completion of an M.A.) at Brandeis (which would still be super-expensive), and then consideration for a fully-funded Ph.D. i'm so tempted to accept, but i know it's risky. bleh!
  4. uh-oh! i saw someone was accepted to northeastern's M.A. in public history? who is it - are you going? i applied to that program myself, so i will be anxiously checking my mail these next few days.
  5. I just had an admission offer (some funding) for the comparative history program. I might be heading that way.

    Brandeis

i received an admission offer today! that was a surprise!
  7. I'm only waiting on three: Brandeis, Notre Dame, and Northeastern. But I only applied to 4, so I'd love to hear something soon! I am going to try to hold out until this weekend, I think.
  8. is it time to contact yet? i am getting so anxious.
  9. so where do you teach? maybe i can just come take your job? i'm not having much luck with the grad school applications. :|
  10. i am still waiting on brandeis, notre dame, and northeastern. i haven't heard a thing. :|

    Brandeis

to the person who submitted the American History rejection. it said via email. did they contact you or did you email them first?
  12. congrats on CM, strangelight. i thought about applying there, but i didn't think i 'd like pittsburgh. i kind of wish i would have now. i keep seeing so many rejections on here --- and i only applied to four schools!

    Brandeis

Thanks, everybody. Yeah, i hope they're still considering me. I still haven't heard anything. I'm just waiting patiently. Or as patiently as possible anyways. :?

    Brandeis

I saw that another person was contacted and accepted for american history. congrats. i'm still crossing my fingers for a spot in the comparative history program.
  15. And the placement record for Northeastern's public history is pretty rockin'
  16. i found one of the New School's reasons: "A gift to your school's annual fund also helps the university's alumni gift participation rate, which is important for several reasons. Alumni gift participation is a factor in The New School's U.S. News and World Report ranking. For better or worse, many people judge the stature of a school on this ranking of which five percent is based on percentage of alumni giving. The more gifts from alumni we receive, the better we look!" http://newschool.edu/alumni/giving.html Yes, the New School offers an MA & PhD in Historical Studies. I do not intend to apply to the New School. I was just curious. (I wouldn't have even known about the school if they hadn't emailed me multiple times.) I did, however, apply to Northeastern for Public History. The program looks great, and I would love to be accepted.
  17. I have come across a couple of programs that look very good to me, but they aren't listed under US News Top 100 History Graduate Programs. I know that this list isn't everything, but honestly, I cannot understand why certain programs didn't make it. Examples: The New School, Northeastern. I'm sure there are others. What gives :?:
  18. lovely. then i suppose there's no hope for me - as i am applying as an undergrad and considering that i come from a tiny university that no one has heard of, with less than stellar GRE scores.

    Brandeis

To the person who was wait-listed at Brandeis: Do you know if the entire history department has selected & notified those being accepted/wait-listed? Or is this only American History? I applied for the Comparative History program but haven't heard anything yet. :|
  20. oh no! that is awful. i hope they let us know sooner this year. like asap.
  21. Oh, thanks for letting me know. Well, at least you know something! I have no idea about the status of my application. :? Waiting list sounds good to me - Hope that works out for you! I wonder why they contacted the waiting list first. It doesn't seem like anyone else has been notified of acceptance or rejection yet. Hmm.
  22. Any news on Notre Dame or Brandeis? I applied to both, but I haven't heard anything yet. I saw on the Admissions Results that someone was waitlisted at Notre Dame on Feb. 12 via email.
