fwoomp Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Hi, all. I was hoping for some feedback on my chances of admission at various Master's programs. B.S. in CS from a second tier private university not known for computer science Minor in Mathematics Undergraduate GPA: 3.81 Major GPA: 3.92 GRE: 169 V, 170 Q, 5.0 AW 2 years working as a software engineer for a trading company in Chicago 2 LORs from superiors at work but only 1 from an academic source I'm applying for Master's programs at the following schools: Stanford Berkeley Carnegie Mellon UIUC (in-state) Georgia Tech Princeton UMD College Park Johns Hopkins Does anybody have an idea of how competitive I'll be at these schools or whether I'm overreaching? Thanks, fwoomp
SANDIEGO Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Looks like a decent list to me. You'll probably get rejected by about half of those on your list. If you were applying for a PhD then you'd be lucky to get into any of them, but for a masters I think you're competitive for those schools.

Thanks, fwoomp What school did you attend? Your profile looks fine. Your ability to pay with employer tuition assistance might boost your chances a bit. Keep in mind that for UMd. College Park, I would bet that your chances will improve if you take a few non-degree graduate classes there and get a recommendation from a professor there.
