chemaholic Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Hey all, I was wondering whether any of last year's applicants had experience with the informal credentials review provided by the IBMG program for Ph.D. study at IUPUI. While I think that it's a really nice service, I wonder how reliable it is. So was anybody here encouraged to apply after the review and still did not get accepted? Or was anyone told it would not make any sense to apply, refused to rely on this answer and got admitted in the end? Looking forward to your replies!

arnds Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Yeah, I was one of the gullible ones whom IUPUI "strongly recommended" to submit the full application (following the review of my preapplication). Later they sent a rejection letter (which I particularly remember as it was unduly rude for a standard rejection letter). But then again I'm an international student, so things may vary.
chemaholic Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 Sorry to hear that, arnds! Well, I also was strongly encouraged to apply and ended up doing so. Since I didn't hear back from them for a long time and had another offer to decide on, I contacted them last week to inquire about my application status. In fact, they told me that I was selected for a skype interview. However, I am still waiting to be contacted by a professor to arrange an interview date... Also, on their facebook page they posted something like "We sent out 50 status notifications today" in late December. However, none of those made it to the results page here. So I really don't know what to think of the program.
