My ultimate goal is a phd so i am applying for PhD programs, but am willing to complete a masters degree first. Here are the schools i plan to apply: Michigan Harvard UNC Washington John Hopkins Iowa Minnesota Ohio State Cincinnati Penn Brown Wisconsin What are my chances for these schools for PhD/MS? thanks! biostat2013 1
Shostakovich Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I would say pretty high for most of the schools on your list. Harvard, UW, and Hopkins might be hard since their applicant pools are so strong, but all others should be good chances (with Michigan, Minnesota, UNC, Wisconsin, Penn, Brown being sort of like the next guys on the list in terms of ranking). Your best bet is probably to apply as soon as possible, looks like some of the first deadlines have already passed. biostat2013 1
cyberwulf Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 You will almost surely get into MS programs at most of these places. PhD admission chances are going to depend on your school (there is variety within the Big 10 in terms of school strength) and how much adcoms worry about those lower grades in LA and AA. I'd say you have a reasonable chance of admission to a few schools in the 4-8 range, and you're in great shape for anything below that range.
