Suggestions application to communication design program

Hi, I am a Computer Science Engineer from Asia looking to apply to communication design programs. I have little or no experience in Graphics/visual communication.

Here are the list of schools I am looking to apply.

Communication Design at Pratt

Design and technology at Parsons

Visual communications at RCA.

ITP at TISCH New York.

Communication Design at California College of arts.

Although I have working knowledge of photoshop and illustrator, I do not have a portfolio to present. Any suggestions on how I should approach my application?

Any help/ pointers will be much appreciated.
