TransferFunction Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Because when you apply, the more people means more competition. I myself will be applying to mechanical engineering school with emphasis on fluid mechanics and energy sciences. Anyone out there have a clue as to what schools get the most of?
intirb Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 More popular fields also tend to have more funding and more spots. At my school, EE is much bigger than BME, in terms of number of students accepted each year.
ghanada Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Yeah I don't think playing the odds of which dept to apply to is the best way to go about applications, especially if you are doing a PhD. Typically, you look for people that you want to work with and then apply to the department(s) these people are in since you need them to be on your thesis committee.
