shockwave Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I have finally gotten my SoP to where I want it and am very happy with how it looks in its most recent copy. I just sent this version out to three schools and realized that I had made a very miniscule grammar/typing error. I put "shatter" instead of "shattered". So basically "...have shatter past ideologies..." Is this a major concern or is this something most readers and comittees will overlook? I proofread this document about twenty times and cannot believe I missed this mistake!!! Is this a major issue is all else is very good?
damequixote Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I'm sure if you conjugated your verbs correctly in the rest of your statement, they'll realize it's a typo and I don't think they'll think much of it. There are hundreds of posts about typos in both successful and unsuccessful SOPs, so I think you're fine.
Usmivka Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Active is better than passive, right? "I shatter my hopes for a typo free SOP" sounds more exciting!
huerita Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Obviosuly typos aren't good, but I hope that the admissions committes realize we're human! If the rest of your essay was tight, I think they can overlook it. One book I read about admissions essays even had an example of someone who made two typos in the first sentence, and got into a number of T-14 law schools.
