sparker Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 So... This might seem a bit nuts. But...I've JUST decided to apply for a graduate program for the Fall 2013 term. The application deadline is Feb. 15. This will be a second master's degree for me, and the first time I will be required to take the GRE. (Thankfully, the last program I attended didn't require the exam). Given the time-constraint, and the fact that I will be working full-time between now and the application deadline...I'm wondering what you all think. Am I being silly to think that I can prep for the GRE effectively in this amount of time? Also...If I'm taking the computer-based GRE, which test prep would you recommend? Sadly, the Powerprep II software is not compatible with Mac. Thanks, guys!
damequixote Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I think you should go for it. You don't have much time but, even if you don't score well, a GRE score rarely makes or breaks an application (unless the score is very, very low). Take the GRE as soon as possible and focus on making the rest of your app stellar. You certainly don't have anything to lose! If you don't make the cut this time around, next year you can retake the GRE and report only your most recent score (not to mention the time you'll have to rework your SOP). Good luck!
