SkyStrike Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Hey all, I don't really want to go too much into my background because this is more for long-term planning. I wouldn't be able to get into Georgetown, GWU, or HKS as of right now but I'd like to start planning for it, to do it within the next 6-7 years. What is an example of an accepted applicant's background to these programs? What does one have to do to be accepted besides get a high GRE score and have (how many years?) relevant work experience?
PolyWonk Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I've seen this sitting here, and I really don't know how to respond, as I'm not applying for an MPP/MPA. (However, I did apply and was accepted to Georgetown's MPP program 2 years ago. I loved the school, but declined the offer.) As unsatisfying of an answer this may be, take a look at the current "hot" thread... "the AM I COMPETITIVE thread." The first post is particularly informative. The OP applied to and was accepted GWU, American, SAIS and Mecca Princeton's WWS The original post covers the major points (School Requirements, GPA, GRE, Work Experience, Language, Quant skills, & SOP), and a little scrolling will reveal LOR tips too.
