EngiNerd-12 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 For one of my visits, I am interviewing Thurs and Frid. I have a to send my time preferences for the flight. Does it look bad if I request to leave Sun (and I can cover my extra stay on Frid/Sat nights) so I can check out the area more thoroughly? Thanks!
PsychGirl1 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Nope- but don't expect a ride to the airport.
Usmivka Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Totally normal, where you live is an important consideration for where you decide to go. They should still cover your expenses back to the airport as well, since they would have covered all transit related expenses regardless of day and time. Let the school know you plan to stick around, they often have discounted rates at local hotels and may book/extend the booking for you so you end up paying less for those extra days. TakeruK 1
EngiNerd-12 Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 I emailed them asking about the possibility of staying until Sunday. Exploring the area seems perfect for the weekend! I think it's important to go to a good school but also like the area you will be living in for the next 4-6yrs (at least)!
PsychGirl1 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Yes, if they were covering the airport ride cost-wise, then they should still cover it. However, in a good number of my interviews they actually have graduate students drive us to the airport instead of covering the cost- in which case, I wouldn't ask for a ride, since it would be inconvenient for the graduate students. Enjoy!
