ExpensivePink Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Hi everyone, just wondering if any students/prospective students are involved in the professional associations for librarians? When i was in an MLS program, I greatly enjoyed SLA, and actually found my first professional gig through networking done there. Unfortunately, I have to pay for memberships out of pocket so I take turns with membership - no way I can afford them all. Now that I'm hoping to return to school, I plan to join EVERYTHING -- the student rates are so much more manageable. I just got back from ALA Midwinter and had a great time. Got a chance to speak with a lot of librarians I look up to (from their writings or leadership). Anyone else involved, officially or unofficially?
annieca Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 If I go to grad school in the UK, I'm considering joining CILIP which is the UK version of ALA. Otherwise, probably will join SAA at some point.
