Sealove00 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I'm curious, when ETS sends my GRE score report to my university, what will my university see on that report? Are they able to see the questions I missed, and my written issue and argument essays as well? Thank you.
iowaguy Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 They will just see your scores and percentiles for V, Q, and AW.
Sealove00 Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 Oh, they won't even receive my essays?
midnight Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Nope, they won't receive your essays (and I can't imagine them taking time to read them even if they did). They only see your scores and corresponding percentiles.
ridofme Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 My understanding was that they do see your essays, but now I can't find any official source either way.
OhMySocks Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Here is an example of a score report that the institution might receive: http://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/institution_score_report.pdf All it has is the raw scores. No other information.
Andean Pat Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 That's why, at least in my field and in the departments I have applied to, they do not pay much attention to scores.
lisaflorence Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 According to my understanding ,percentile ranks shown on score reports are based on the performance of the current reference group for each test regardless of when the scores were earned.
iowaguy Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 That's why, at least in my field and in the departments I have applied to, they do not pay much attention to scores. In some fields the top schools have a GRE cutoff, where they toss the applications in the trash that don't meet a minimum score... Some programs/schools also use GRE scores as a factor to determine who gets fellowships. YMMV.
Sealove00 Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 Thank you so much everyone for replying to my post. OhMySocks - the GRE Score Report was good information.
