I applied to the MPA program and got an email a couple weeks ago saying that decisions would be made in late January or early February. Clearly we are now in that time period. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard something similar since it looks like in years past notifications haven't gone out until mid-February. I just want to know if I need to be having a heart attack already obsessively checking my email and snail mail, or if I should try and put off the stress for a couple more weeks. Thanks.

Hmm...I got no such email. My communication to date since submitting about a week before the deadline has been: missing transcripts on January 10th and then transcripts found, followed by application complete 12 days later.

I'm stressin'

Hi there!

I also applied to USC MPA, I submitted my application January 20th and I also recieved the email saying we would hear back late January/early February.  I was also checking the mail like a maniac and got worried 7because I hadn't received anything yet.  Yesterday (2/7) I called the admissions department just to make sure I had all my documents accounted for, they said yes I did and that I should probably hear something late February early March...so now apparently we just wait till then.  Good Luck! :)

I think I may be confused about what the deadline was / is. I thought it was Dec. 15th? I too, have been checking my mailbox like a maniac. I think perhaps I should stop if we wont hear back until march...

The results board suggested that the MPP notices might start rolling in on Feb. 16th. There seems to be quite a range, however.

Also, if I'm wrong about the Dec. 15th deadline, do you think everyone will hear back at the same time, or will there be "waves"?

P.S: I realize that the MPP and MPA are different programs. I had the same question and thought it would be a little redundant to ask it again. I guess the timelines might be different though.

Well I am disappointed but not surprised that we probably wont hear until later in the month or early in march. I was really hoping to hear this week. Oh well. I guess I should stop frantically checking the mail for awhile.

Try logging into the USC graduate certification website (do a search for usc camel). I hadn't been able to log in until today...

Hey, so just to clarify, you got your USC ID from an email that says"IMPORTANT: Your USC ID Is enclosed"? I tried logging in with that number and my birthday and it didn't work...I hope thats not a bad sign. What did it say when you logged on?

Hmm... I'm actually a USC employee so I already knew my ID. It's a ten digit number. Not sure if its the one you're talking about.

When I log in it asks if I want to accept or decline the offer to the 2013 fall MPP program. Nothing updated on my online application site.

Mine didn't work either. Since they seem to still be pretty early in the acceptance process I am not going to take it as a bad sign for us yet, but I will say it's a good sign for whoever can get on.

I also got my ID from the email you referenced.

Maybe MPP decisions were made already - either that or it's because you're a USC employee. Congrats if if you got in!

I applied for the MPP program before the 12/15 deadline and was able to login to the USC camel site today. It asks if I want to accept an offer (I am not a USC alum or employee; I found my ID in the email marked "important"). I don't know if this means I am in for sure or not, and there is no info on financial aid.

I was finally able to login to the graduate certification website today! I applied to the MPA program on 11/17.

Hi everyone, I just found this thread. I was able to log on to camel this morning and I was wondering if anyone that was able to sign in, prior to today, had received any official notice from the university? I am not sure what being able to log in means.

Thank you for your help!

I have not received formal notification in the mail. I am trying not to get too excited but I think the fact that we were able to logon to a statement of intent page that has an option to accept an offer of admission says it all.

Hey Muro0901, I feel the exact same way right now. I don't want to get too excited or get my hopes up because nothing is official. Did your log in screen state the "semester intended" for the accept option?

Posted

If you actually click on the "yes" option there is a little drop down that will tell you the program and semester.

Thank you so much. I guess the waiting continues for now.

Anyone else still not able to log into their system - trying not to take it as a bad omen - they had misplaced my transcript so I'm just hoping that pushed my application to the back of the stack. Oh well, otherwise there's always next year. Stress.

Just a heads up to you all: I received my acceptance packet for USC's MPP program yesterday (Wednesday February 13th). I was fortunate enough to receive an offer for 1/2 tuition (Dean's Merit Scholarship).

I'm sure there's a better thread for this, but below are my stats. I'm posting them because I couldn't find admitted applicants from previous years who had similar stats, so hopefully this will give some people hope now or in future admissions cycles.

Undergrad Institution: UC Berkeley (I was a junior transfer)

Major: Media Studies

Minor: Disability Studies

GPA: 3.6

Extra Curricular/Employment/Etc: Two policy related research apprenticeships at Cal, Grants & Contracts position at a major department/institution within UC Berkeley, year of volunteering at a Healthcare related non-profit, high school congressional internship.

I am graduating this Spring, so I applied with essentially no professional experience. I know, I'm lucky.

Well congratulations are definitely in order for your acceptance and the scholarship award. Way to go!

From what I understand about years past generally you receive an admissions packet from the school with no funding info followed up by a packet from USC Price that includes all of the specifics. Is that how it happened with you? Also, if you don't mind sharing, what were your GRE scores?

I came home from work and found a similar packet. I have been accepted into the MPA program with a 1/2 tuition scholarship. I am so excited. The packet came from USC Price.

Undergrad: St. Cloud State University

Double Major: Planning and Community Development & Sociology

GPA: 3.9

Work Experience: Not too much. Less than a year at a regional foundation. Had almost 3 years volunteering with a small non-profit in college though.

LOR: Pretty great. Two former professors and my current boss.

GRE: V- 158  Q- 152
