I just called this morning.  They are "no longer giving out application status' over the phone.  You will receive an email and/or letter in the mail shortly."  When I asked how much longer she said, "not too much longer.  Orientation is in a few weeks".

Sigh...

I've gotten the "we are not longer giving out application status' over the phone" answer before too. I think it depends on when you call. I usually wait a few hours, call back, and then get an update. I scoff at the idea of getting a response mere days before orientation. Although I would rather be a part of orientation than not get in...additionally, I work for a hospital system that I'm hoping to use as my first field placement. Spots for the field placement within the hospital system are competitive, so the longer I wait the worse my chances are of getting in. So incredibly frustrating.

Blah. :( I was about to call today, but I guess it would be useless! Thank you for updating. I'm surprised by how frustrating this all is. I expected I would know by the middle of April.

I'm so sorry to all that are still waiting.  I'm shocked by how they have handled this.  I've never heard of a school taking this long.  I wonder if they are waiting to see how many people send in the tuition deposits?

I applied to U MICH's MSW program in February and I still have not heard an admissions decision either.  They too claim to have a rolling admissions process.    I've been getting the "with the review committee"  line for a while now too.

I got my email today too!  I'm confused though, because I applied for Advanced Standing, but the email has no mention of that. The frustration continues...

For those of you who applied for Advanced Standing, does it say so in your acceptance letter?  I'm kind of freaking out, but can't think of any rason why I would have to retake all of those classes in the regular program.

How am I the only one still in review? This is so frustrating. Congrats to those who got in though!!

congrats to all those who heard! --- will you be attending registration this Wednesday, or did they give you an alternative date?

My date is June 6th. It was nice of them to give me a little notice, since I'm coming from Ohio! Speaking of which, does anyone have any tips on relocating to Connecticut? I've been there before but I have no idea where to look for an apartment. It's stressing me out already!

Hi duchess,

I'm not sure what your price range is for apartments, but I actually live in a 4-family colonial and one of the tenants is moving out so there will be a 1-bedroom below my apartment open soon. My roommate is a PhD student at Uconn Storrs, and I will be at SCSU or Uconn (if Uconn ever makes a decision). The apartment is in Vernon, which is about a 20/25 minute drive from campus and 2 exits from a major mall/shopping area. Otherwise, I'd look in West Hartford - it's a really lovely town with a wonderful town center (google "Blueback Square")...but it can be on the expensive side. Be careful about anything on the Hartford/West Hartford line...it gets sketchy.

Definitely agree with Nardoned.. the "West End" of Hartford on the West Hartford/ Hartford line is not the best area. I was apartment hunting with my boyfriend in the Manchester area.. it too is about 15-20 minutes from West Hartford's campus. You can find rent anywhere from $800-1200/month for 1-2 bedrooms plus utilities. Tons of old factories that were renovated into apartments (which I personally love because they have exposed bricks, huge windows, and open layouts) and more traditional apartments in the area. West Hartford gets pricey, I wasn't able to find anything under $1100/month, but it's totally worth it if you can afford it. It's a great little center with shopping, bars, food, ect.

Goodluck with your search!

I did not get an email but I received a letter which did state that I was accepted for advanced standing.  Did you ever find out?  I didn't think they automatically considered you for regular standing if you applied for advanced standing.

Nardoned, it's not just you still in review.  I have a few friends that are still waiting to hear back as well.  I wish you luck.

I didn't receive any information about registration.  I believe that is because they are waiting for my official transcript and proof of immunization.  I am going to the orientation on the 31st though!

I can't get a hold of anyone. I sent an email and left a voice mail a week ago. My letter says advanced concentration in casework, but not advanced standing. I am graduating with a 3.97 tomorrow from an accredited bsw program. I can't imagine why I would be admitted as a regular msw student. I am beyond frustrated.

Incase anyone was wondering, I still have not heard anything. I called today and they gave me some speech about "making final decisions soon." It's almost June.
