Hi!  I'm new here, but after trolling every possible lead, I stumbled upon this site and thought you guys would be the best to ask...

I have applied to M.S.W. programs at University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Wisconsin - Madison and Aurora University.  I've applied for the Fall 2013 cohort.  Has anyone applied to these schools, same track and cohort and heard anything yet, or do you have any idea when we can expect to hear?  I'm just really ready for a decision (though I know we all are, and I can appreciate how many applications these admissions counselors have to go through).

Also, I know UC accepts around 25 students each year.  Does anyone know how many UW-Madison and UIC accept?

I don't know if this is coming too late, but I hope it helps. I read on their website that UW-Madison accepts about 100 people into their program. I also applied to UIC but have not heard back from them yet.

UW-Madison released their decisions on March 1st, did you get an acceptance?

I went to an open house at University of Chicago and was told they accept a lot more than that to their Full-Time AM (MSW) program. They have about 200 FT AM students at any given time (according to the paperwork they gave me), so it seems like more than 25 students are accepted.

I'm just like you waiting to hear from them though. They're my dream program. Also, I applied to UIC at the beginning of December and heard back at the end of January. I was told that later applications take about 8 weeks though.

That is helpful, thank you!  I actually spoke with someone at UW today and they told me they haven't finished reviewing all the applications and while decisions were hopefully going to be made by tomorrow, they're now aiming for the end of the month.  I have not heard either way, and she said they do send rejection letters.

I completed my application January 11th.  My transcripts were "verified - correct" as of February 9th and I still haven't heard anything...should I be getting concerned/putting in a phone call?  When I have called and asked about when they'll be making decisions, I've been told "they don't have a target date".

I don't think you should worry too much about it. I know that's easier said than done, but they most likely received a lot more applications in January than December. I emailed them around the 6th week to ask if everything was okay with my application because I hadn't heard anything. They responded and informed me that a decision was being made on my application that week. Hopefully, you could get them to tell you something like that.

I can't wait to hear from SSA though. Their open house was so impressive. I just can't wait to be back in Illinois!

When I spoke to someone at UIC several weeks ago, I was told that they received over 900 applications!  = O

Illinois is beautiful!  We love it here, but I'm geographically confined, so other parts of the country that I love equally weren't an option, unfortunately.

One thought I had is that I had two pieces under consideration for presentation at an international conference at the time that I submitted my applications.  Since then, both have been accepted for presentation.  I'm thinking the, "I have something to add to my application" approach may be slightly less annoying than the, "I'm checking the status of my application" approach.  Thoughts?

I'm also waiting to hear from UIC. They are the last school I'm waiting to hear from and I have to make a decision for the other programs by April 1st. I emailed them and was told that my application was complete on 1/27, went into reveiw on 2/21 and it usually takes TWELVE weeks from that date. Unfortunately, I'll have to make a decision before then. Must say, not so impressed with their efficiency...
