Sorawit Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I know I can't really do anything about it since I've submitted my apps and everything. But do you think my 152V, 167Q, 2.5&3.5 AWA (I sent both) are good enough to get me into PhD program? My TOEFL score is quite solid (107/120, thought not so good in the writing section with 24 out of 30). I'm afraid that my mediocre AWA score might cost me another year. Any thoughts?
uromastyx Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Those are very low AW scores, but those alone shouldn't prevent acceptance, and certainly won't if you've supplied a writing sample.
Sorawit Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 Hmm Thx, uromastyx, I might have to retake the GRE if I didn't get in this time (and if I still have willpower to do this again by then ) I was so determined to improve my verbal (I gained 7 points) and didn't have time to look at AWA at all

If the rest of your app is strong, I doubt your AW score will hold you back, especially considering that you have an SOP and solid TOEFL score to confirm your language abilities. Delaware's site doesn't even mention AW, just that PhD applicants should aim for a combined GRE of 1150 or above with a preferred verbal score of 500 or above (your score of 152 corresponds with 490 on the old test).
