If Boulder doesn't send any word out to-day... it will be a very, very sad day.

PS, congrats, skybythelight!

Thank you! I would imagine that the official acceptances will go out today, barring any change. Youngquist did say he would be sending me a letter today, so I'm assuming he meant the form acceptance e-mail.

I'm debating as to whether or not I want to just bite the bullet and email Dr. Youngquist again. I don't want to be a bother... I mean, I only sent one email two weeks ago. Sigh.

Erm.... I already did. I must not be as polite as you are! I know they're busy but the waiting is killing me. No response as yet though.

I haven't gotten the "official letter" I was told would be coming today, either. Unless they're sending it snail mail, which I kind of doubt.

WAAAAA! Got an email from Dr. Youngquist... waitlisted!

AMAZING. Here's hoping it comes through for you! Mine must still be hanging in the balance I think... Oh well. In resigned to my fate!

Youngquist sent me an e-mail a few days ago that simply said "Hey skybythelight, We accepted you for the MA. Not the PhD. Just to be clear." I was like um... seeing as I didn't apply to the PhD it would be pretty miraculous if you had accepted me. Except I didn't say it like that.

Just got my official e-mail of acceptance... "Unfortunately, we cannot offer you a teaching assistantship at this time, but may be able to do so at a later date. We make every effort to see that our MA students receive at least one semester of financial support in the form of a teaching assistantship during their two years in our program."

Just received a similar email. The first paragraph, where they told me there were "exceedingly impressed" with my application and excited about working with me, was a total tease. Made me think there was some chance I was actually getting funded, for a second. BUT, for me, no funding = no degree, being international. Sigh, sigh, and double sigh.

In case anyone is interested, this is the e-mail I received from Youngquist about funding. He had originally told me I was on a waitlist, and then I received that form e-mail simply stating that no funding was available, so I asked for clarification.

"I'll be as clear as I can. You are on a waitlist at the moment for fall funding. This means we have made a number offers of MA admission that include a position as a TA in the fall. If some of these are not accepted, the funding package will devolve to you. It involves assisting in a large lecture by way of holding discussion sections and grading papers. We do our very best (and so far we have been successful at it) to award each of our MA students at least one semester of teaching over the course of four semesters in the MA program. So at the very least, you'd have that. Things right now are very fluid (many admits have multiple offers), so it's very possible to imagine funding coming your way. But at the moment I can't guarantee it."

I believe I'm on the same wait list. I appreciate they are trying to be fair and help everyone out, but it also makes things kind of difficult not having anyone get the full package. I dunno, what are you thoughts, skybythelight?

Not to invade the MA-only space, but I sure would like to know what's up with their PhD applications. From what I can tell on the results board from past seasons, they sort of notify sporadically, never officially waitlist anyone, and keep some people waiting for their rejections right up until the 15th.

I'm trying to make decisions here and CU is one of my top choices, so... sure would like to know. Email correspondence with Cynthia Ocken has produced no meaningful insight.
