hopefulslp88 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Nope, I actually didn't know they did interviews. To be honest, I recently knocked Stockton out of my list of schools I'm considering, so if a rejection is coming that's really fine. I'm a little concerned about their accreditation standing (with ASHA listing them as an "accreditation candidate"), and I also recently realized that their program is a full 2 and a half years plus both summers. I'm ok with programs including summers, but I really don't like the idea of the full extra semester for a school that I'm a little iffy on to begin with. I've found it interesting that multiple posters kept talking about Stockton being political on the results board though.... I don't even know what that means exactly, but it's weird it kept being said! At this point I'm just hoping for an acceptance somewhere! I still have a decent amount of schools to hear from, hopefully this week will be a good one!
slpgal123 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 You definitely are still waiting on a lot, and I have a good feeling you'll end up getting in somewhere . I'm really hoping now that April 1st is going to have hit we'll start to hear from some more of these schools! The wait is getting ridiculous.

The waiting really is killing me!
slpf13 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I did see someone post an a phone call acceptance today, so I assume Seton Hall is still giving out acceptances. April 5th is a bit early to reply. I wish all schools obeyed the Apr. 15 deadline. :/ But, I hope everyone continues to get good news this week!!
mystiqueSLP Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Montclair is starting to send out decisions according to the results page! My application status still says "Under review" though... Good luck everyone!
hopefulslp88 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 It was a no go from Stockton...8 schools left!
mystiqueSLP Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 It was a no go from Stockton...8 schools left! I'm sorry Have you heard back from the schools you interviewed at? Your stats look decent, it's a little odd that you haven't been accepted anywhere yet...especially since you applied to 10+ schools!

I have not heard back from either school I interviewed with and I've just been waitlisted at U of Pitt, but it looks like many people have...trying to stay positive, this is my second year applying!
mystiqueSLP Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Congrats on the waitlist, there's still hope! And I'm not trying to be invasive, but is there a weak point in your application that could explain the rejections? It seems like you have so much background in SLP! I'm just really surprised whenever I read your signature and still don't see an acceptance for you.

mystiqueSLP Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 They're not bad though...now I'm just more surprised. I'm sure you will get in somewhere this year, that waitlist is probably the beginning of good news for you
slpgal123 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I agree, I really think one (or more) of these schools is going to work out for you! I'm hoping we'll hear from a lot of them this week, and that you'll get some good news. I just got a rejection from Stockton in the mail also. My Montclair page still says my application is under review too. I'm hoping that changes soon! It'd be great to hear from them this week one way or another

I'm off this week from work so now all my time is spent thinking about hearing back from schools!!
slpgal123 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 My Montclair application status changed to "Decision made - allow up to 2 weeks for letter to be delivered". I'm hoping since I live only a half hour from Montclair that I'll get the letter sometime this week! *crosses fingers*
ald360 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 i got my acceptance to seton hall yesterday morning via phone -- i am not sure how they are doing this process but for anyone who is waiting to hear from them don't give up hope!!! good luck to everyone and hopefully we will hear back from montclair soon!!!! mine still says under review

I live like 15-20 minutes away so maybe I'll get something before they update my online status
clydeyo12 Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 Good luck! Mine is still "under review". I wonder if that's bad news..? I live like 15-20 minutes away so maybe I'll get something before they update my online status Mine now says "Decision Made" and I live about 5 min away, so I will promptly post my decision as soon as I get it! It says that it takes up to 2 weeks though. Seriously?!

It says that it takes up to 2 weeks though. Seriously?! I'm hoping that they put "Decision made" once the letter is already in the mail, and that the 2 weeks is just the maximum it would take to get to people who live far away. It would be sad if the decision is made but the letters aren't actually sent out yet! Then it's impossible to predict when they will start arriving.
mystiqueSLP Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Still "under review". I'm assuming bad news now :/
ald360 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Still "under review". I'm assuming bad news now :/ me too, hang in there!!! still could be good news!
clydeyo12 Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 mystiqueSLP, are you going to the NYU open house on Thursday??
mystiqueSLP Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Yup! I just found out I have a quiz on Thursday but I'll just talk with my prof and make it up later. Are you thinking about going now?
clydeyo12 Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 I really can't. I have 4 classes spanning from 9:30a-7:30p, including an exam from 12:30-1:45. Couldn't be worse timing. Let me know how it goes! Although my situation is looking more and more like I will not end up going there...
mystiqueSLP Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Oh definitely will report back afterwards and why not?
clydeyo12 Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 Looks like I might get into my post-bacc school with the possibility of an assistantship in their speech clinic which will cover my entire tuition. Plus I haven't heard great things about NYU's program (which is just hearsay) but I already know I like the program I'm at now.
