inthrutheoutdoor Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I'm recently retired and considering applying to a MFA Visual Arts program starting in the fall of 2014. Like the headline says, I'm 50 years old. Not quite one foot in the grave but then again... Mixing with the 23-35 crowd isn't all that out of the ordinary for me, so that's not my concern. However, assuming my credentials etc. are up to standard, I am wondering to what degree my age might be a negative factor with admission committees. All candid thoughts will be much appreciated. Blaneyphoto Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I'm in the same ballpark age range and I can't see why it would be considered a negative thing. If anything, your extra life experience should bring more to the program, shouldn't it?
Burkis Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I doubt that they will take into account your age. As long as your qualifications are good and you submit a great application you shouldn't have a problem.
