I did not expect to get into each program...and now am in a jam over decisions. General input from fellow academics is much appreciated. I am in this more a Master's, but if I go the PhD route, then I'll decide in the next year when do my MA. Here's what I'm between...

SAIS - MA

Georgetown - MSFS

Berkeley - MDP (new program..)

Denver - Int'l Human Rights

George Washington - Int'l Affairs

Many thanks!

I'm actually in the same position. Trying to figure out which is more worth it. If I go to SAIS or SFS I'm going to have to pay $20,000 out of pocket. If I go to GW I would be able to go for free. So in short I'm trying to figure out if that extra $20,000 a year is worth it.

No it is not.

As a Molecular Biologist I would expect you to give a reason. Also as a molecular biologist I can't take what you say seriously since this field is no where close to yours. We're not kids over here. Support what you're saying by stating reasons or else keep to yourself.

Unless you have a really good reason do to so generally: free is much better than debt.

Good enough. Thank you.

FYI, I apologize for my aggressive tone earlier. I was on 24 hour staff duty. Cranky and over-caffeinated would not even begin to describe the mood I was in.

Did you receive an outside fellowship for GW?  I thought I had read elsewhere that the most GW gave was half-tuition.

SAIS and Georgetown both have excellent reputations in DC jobs though, and they both translate easily into the private sector (perhaps SAIS a bit more than Georgetown). GW is fantastic and extremely reputable but may not carry as much weight in private sector jobs. Just a thought... All great choices! You can't go wrong!

I'm in the same situation - for SAIS and Georgetown SFS, that is.  What do you want to study specifically?  I've heard that SAIS focuses a bit more on human rights (because of the Conflict Resolution program) but that might not be true.  I looked into University of Denver's human rights program but didn't apply (although I adore Colorado) because I felt like I would have more job opportunities in DC or NYC for human rights.
