child of 2 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) I've been doing a co-op since January. They seem to want to offer me a job. Now I don't want to play hard to get, like if you don't make me an offer, I'm gone. But I'm wondering if you think it's a good idea to email them to update my application to include my co-op, just to get my name out there a little more, and maybe add some more merit, considering industrial experience adds a little more for those who didn't apply straight out of undergrad. I feel dumb for having to ask this. But I'm waiting for two programs and really don't want to fk it up. Edited March 15, 2013 by child of 2
lypiphera Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I probably would not. It's certainly a good experience to have, but I don't think a few months of non-research work experience will make a huge difference to most professors, and unless it's a BIG change you need to update, it's probably not something they'd want to be bothered with. It's good to know that you may have a job option though!
child of 2 Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 (edited) but I don't really want this job. The people are nice, and the pay is great. But it's not my environment. I'm not getting very much fulfillment out of working at a plant, and that's the second most important thing to me in a job, next to compensation. I'm not even sure if I'd take it if I get shut out, because I might try again next year, and use the time to gain research experience. Edited March 16, 2013 by child of 2
