jaycee09 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Hi folks, I am a new member here and I'd like to get some advice on school selection. I recently got admission offers for MS in Computer Science from UCLA and USC and I am having trouble in choosing one for the other. Here's why: 1. Program: USC: CS in game dev, an awesome program with a promising career ahead. UCLA: CS, yet to decide my specialization, all though i havent come across an interesting one available for me. So, i'll be a hard core computer scientist here, and career prospects are as usual, nothing exciting in my opinion. 2. Reputation: Both are equally reputed schools as far as I know, which does no good in easing my confusion 3. Tuition: USC is way too expensive as opposed to UCLA - a one major factor, I cannot ignore! 4. Commutation: For where I live, commuting to UCLA works out much easier than to USC. That's all my confusion is about. In a nutshell, I don't know what to choose between career and money/comfort. I really need some opinions from you guys. I have to make a decision soon. Thanks much
qazwsx Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 i got into UCLA too for MS but i'm still deciding. Have you visited UCLA before?
jaycee09 Posted March 14, 2009 Author Posted March 14, 2009 oh, congrats to you! yes I have been to the campus once and it was pretty impressive to me!
Fresh1234 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Hi! I received a letter from UCLA saying that I am recommended for admission etc... Then it sais "If your paperwork is ino order with UCLA your admission will be approved...". It also sais that this is an offer of admission and that i have to reply by April15th. I am confused, does this mean that i am admitted 100% or i have to wait to see what happens? (I applied for MS in CS) I also got a letter like this form UCSD. Thank you.
mo7aisen Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I am confused, does this mean that i am admitted 100% or i have to wait to see what happens? Yes, that's what that means. If they have some problem with your documents, they will call you back.
