Hey speechkelly, wanna meet up for a drink? I always have good luck with Kellys, and speech path girls are usually really cute...one of the reasons picked the major;) might ease the tension

2 posts.  Troll?

Um. No thanks.  Try Match.com.

Also, and maybe I'm just on edge, but if you picked this major for the cute girls, I *sincerely* hope that you don't get an acceptance that would go to a more deserving candidate.

Gross.

I heard ut divides applications into in-state and out-of-state, and takes way more in state applicants. Is this true?

Awk......ward.

Hahahaaa! @ Speechpathlove7

Exactly.  That's like one of us heading over to the med school boards trying to pick up dates. "Oooh, I hear doctors make a lot of money... I can ease your stress."  Blech.

ANYWAY, back to the waiting.

Ten...sion

Hahah okay can we all blame this craziness on our anxiety waiting to hear from Texas? Because I sure am!!

Posted

ME TOOOOO.  And all my friends keep asking me about it, so it's like tenfold on the anxiety!!!

Yeah, I think my mom is almost as nervous as I am.  I hate telling her "not yet," over and over again!

It really is crazy how many apps they get for such a small program.  I hope more programs start opening up, or that the existing ones can get better funding to expand.

I know competitive is good because it produces good Master's candidates, but a 3.8 average accepted GPA is just a little excessive.

I know!  It's crazy!  I don't know how they can choose people.  I mean, there are just so many good applicants I'm sure!

I really hope we don't have to wait until Monday!  I mean, I know it's not that far away, but it's just been so long!  This week was brutal, I feel like I got nothing done, because I keep staring at my inbox....

So, speechykelly - you're an undergrad right now in CSD at UT?  I bet it's tense with all of yall there waiting to hear....  I went to UT, but graduated a few years ago.  I sure miss UT and Austin.... I moved away after graduation for a job and have been allover since then.  It would be nice to be back in Austin again! :)

I've been talking about this with my mom (who is a prof) and she is blaming the waiting game on profs being busy and whatnot.  As she put it, "it only takes one professor to miss a meeting for the whole process to be put off a week."  However, since they went through the trouble of updating the website, I REALLY hope we get news before the weekend!

SLPtobeWeeee, it's a little tense, but there's also kind of a sense of camaraderie just because we all know we're in the same boat.  Everybody knows its competitive, but the other undergrads seem to be really into being supportive which is nice :)

UT was my dream undergrad, so I already feel really lucky, having come in as a transfer. It sucks though, because moving isn't an option for me,  so it's TxsState and UT.  I wish I had the option to apply to a ton of schools to increase my chances.  It's a great place, here's hoping we both get in!

And as far as it taking so long, I do appreciate that they're considering each application so carefully.  It's really hard to be patient, but I guess it's nice to know that each SOP is being read and weighed against the numbers and such.

I do wish it were easier to decipher what each program is looking for in a candidate year to year.  It makes me wonder for example, if they admitted a ton of people who said in their SOP that they want to focus on children, does that mean they're more inclined to admit those focusing on adults this time around?

*shrug*

That's nice to hear, the camaraderie definitely helps with the whole process.  I hope we both get in as well!!  Have you heard from Tx State yet?

I agree on the taking so long, I'm glad they are looking at all of our stuff, and taking the time to make the right decisions.  I honestly can't imagine how they make those hard decisions when they have SO many talented applicants that want to go there.  Hopefully it will all work out for the best for all of us.  The waiting game is definitely enough to drive me a little insane, though!

Good luck everyone!!

Gah... Kelly, it's seeming more and more likely that what you heard is going to be true!  3 pm central time and nothing yet...

Again, just hearsay, but I got some news about TxState too.  An extremely high number of applicants this year, and no decisions have been made as of yet.  Their website says April, but I see responses on the results page here that have gone into May.

Dang!!  That is so late!  I'm sorry... I bet you are just dying to hear.  Hopefull you'll get good news from UT today and then you won't have to worry about it! :)

I second that speechykelly! At least they are really considering each application :) and perhaps they are also distracted by the NCAA basketball happening there too haha! I think when people say March Madness, they are in fact talking about this grad app process....

Should we assume it's not happening til next week?  Or are they all sitting around a table in a dimly lit room right now, furiously going through piles of applications?

I'm so glad I finished finals today so at least there is one thing to celebrate!

I heard whispers of Monday, from a professor I know to a student I know.  But when we started, the projected date to announce was the first week of March, so who knows.

Good luck everyone!!! Hopefully we hear news today! :)

Thanks, you too!  I am really hoping so!
