Hello! I was just accepted into two different programs: MSW at CSUMB, and the MSW at SFSU. I decided to stay at CSU Monterey Bay since I got my Bachelors here. I just started volunteering at a hospital, and I was wondering...how intense is graduate level classes really?  In my program, the first year we are required 9 units a semester (3 classes) and 100 service hours volunteering. The 2nd and 3rd year includes 1200 hours at our placement, and I believe a thesis paper. I know its different at every school - I just really don't know what to expect.

Any help would be great! Please let me know your thoughts  ^_^

Hey allybrooke~

You're right...it's definitely different at every school as each school has their particular focus and various levels of rigor. I don't know if anyone could make a confident blank statement about how "intense" all MSW grad programs are. I would encourage you to check the admissions page and get in touch with a current student in YOUR program that you will attend next year. This student can give you specific insight about that program and you will be able to ask them specific questions. I've done that with a few of the programs I applied for and it has been extremely helpful. Good luck!
