doctorawho Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 In a bout of waiting anxiety, I went over my online application and I realized that I accidentally did NOT waive my right to view my recommendation letters! Stupid, stupid, stupid. At this point, I'm hoping they will think it is a trip up over the English language (based in Asia). How screwed am I?
Emoree Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 i don't think it matters. i didn't waive my right, either, and i got into one school and was waitlisted at the other. i don't know why it would matter?

I didn't waive mine either and it doesn't seem to have impacted my acceptances. Fret not!
jwu Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 i personally don't think it matters a professor would have TONS of LOR request during Dec/Jan, i don't think s/he would spend 5 more seconds to figure out if you waive the right or not. normally they know who you are, what you did bla bla and then just write it, right??

Okay, thank you! I'm not sure how it works in the States but in my country/culture it is somewhat frowned upon to not waive the right to view the LOR because it means you don't trust your recommenders, thus your letter is less credible.
Ren Adams Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Just to add one more voice of support--I did not waive the right for any applications (didn't even realize it was an option at first) and it did not seem to impact my admissions.
