Princesseren Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Hello all! I was just recently granted admission to a program at Carleton University. I was given some funding that includes 3 scholarships over the next two years,.... However, there was no offer of assistanship or anything,... they also told me it is not possible to get one if you were not offered so at the beginning. Should I be disappointed?
natimarie Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I don't know. Do the scholarships cover your tuition and healthcare plus give you a stipend? If they do and the stipend amount is comparable to what an assistantship pays, then you should be the opposite of disappointed - free money is better than money for work. If, however, the two are not comparable, then, yes, I would be disappointed unless I was independently wealthy!
Princesseren Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 They cover my costs for the first year but barely. I will probably still have to work few hours to complement my income and will need to apply for more scholarships in my second year.
