jessica87 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 I have a question about scholarships jointly funded by your institution and an external organisation. I have the opportunity to access a phd scholarship for my research topic that no one else seems to be interested in (!). The organisation if offering a certain amount and my university would be required to contribute a certain amount. My question is, what is this money to be used for? Is it a stipend for my living expenses, etc or only for research-related costs? The uni scholarships specify that it's a stipend for students but this scholarship does not specify. Just not sure how this usually works? Cheers
TarentCreel Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Typically Scholarships are stipends you receive that are used for personal expenses. Grants are typically associated with research cost. Without knowing more about the scholarship you mentioned it is difficult to know for sure though. I would email the funding agency (and your graduate office) and ask.
jessica87 Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Thanks! I'll definitely be following up with the funding body to clarify - just curious!
