danigwaps Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I just finished my undergrad and I'm looking forward to an MA/MFA, however, I'm caught between two choices: should I pursue an MFA in Creative Writing or an MA in Literary Studies? I'm not rushing so much just yet as I want to give myself 1-2 years to think it over and decide on it, but I plan to be a professor at a university teaching in an English department. However, I do also want to pursue a career in writing poetry, in this case an MFA in Creative Writing will be of help for future professorial positions as well. What career possibilities in the academe am I looking at for either choice? What can I usually find in either? Finally, can I get suggestions on good universities that specialize in the MFA and the MA of my choice? Preferably Southeast Asian region, with English speaking residents. Thank you in advance.
