pita31
I am looking into applying to CSU San Marcos and CSU Northridge(traditional route, not online) for graduate school. Does any one have any info or insight into either school? I've looked closely at both websites but neither have much information. Would love to hear from current or past students. I understand that CSU SM is not yet accredited. Any thoughts on how this affects the prospect of finding a job after graduation? Or should I avoid applying to all un-accredited programs? Thanks :]
daydreamer254
I don't know about the schools in particular, as I applied to CSUN for the first time, but you want to apply to accredited programs only, as they are recognized and legit. Avoid non-accredited programs if possible.
Ashawkin
I didn't know that CSU San Marcos was not yet accredited, I was planning on applying there. I know that they accept about 20% of applicants and have rolling admissions. The average GPA is about 3.3 and their admissions process is based on a sample of your academic writing, transcripts, GRE scores, personal statement, and 3? Letters of recommendations. Please let me know if you find out more about accreditation!
pita31
Hi Ashawkin! According to their website, they are a "candidate for accreditation". They are fairly new, started in 2010. Accreditation is a 5 year process so I'm guessing if everything goes well they will be accredited in 2015. Please, anyone correct me if I'm wrong! Overall, from what I've read and heard, they have a GREAT program. I'm just worried about the whole accreditation thing.
