Lorelei17 Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Hey everyone, I'm going for a PhD in Visual Studies/ Film and I was trying to figure out the rankings for these programs. However the USNews doesn't seem to offer any kind of guidance, so for those of you out there going for the same thing, how do you rank the quality of your program?
helenforsdale Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 are you talking about film theory/history? or actual filmmaking? generally, with all things film related, both production, as well as theory/history nyu, usc and ucla tend to be top 3 in the country, all with very similar programs.
Still Waiting... Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 You know that's a pretty difficult thing to rank, but I can tell you what schools I applied to based on advice from faculty from many institutions: U of Chicago Yale UC Berkeley Iowa UW Madison NYU USC UCLA Northwestern Columbia There are several other top notch institutions, these were mostly just geared toward my interests so there may be several other that could be suggested.
Still Waiting... Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Sorry I forgot to specify that those are critical studies programs.
