I am having an incredibly difficult time deciding on the best program.  I have received offers to the MSc Palaeopathology 1 year program at Durham University in Durham, England as well as the MA Anthropology 2 year program at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.  They are so different I am having the hardest time choosing between the programs.  Both schools have wonderful faculty and have the programs would increase my knowledge and experience.

I would appreciate any advice about the programs or how to choose between them.

as someone with an abiding interest in bioarchaeology who's pursuing a terminal MA (for now), one of my absolute biggest regrets is that i didn't apply to durham. they've got a great reputation, and i've heard lots of wonderful things about their program, namely from a mentor and LoR writer of mine whose degrees are all from UK schools, and whose background is in bioarchaeo, paleopatho, etc. he really wanted me to apply, and i convinced myself not to because… well, i didn't really have any good reason. i just decided i didn't feel like leaving the states right now. i wish i had at least applied!

anyway, in short, paleopatho is durham's schtick; they already have a good reputation, as far as i know, and it seems to only be improving. for me, it would come down to money and which program's structure suited my goals and needs the best. i suspect it'd be the same or similar for you. hope that helps :)

I agree completely with pears.  It really depends on where your interests are.  Durham is one of the schools that I am interested in attending because of the paleopathology MSc program.  I think it will look great for when I start applying for PhD programs.  I would suggest talking to a professor about it, if you haven't decided already on which one to go to.  I have a friend that is attending GSU in the Fall for bioarchaeology and that is the only school that she applied to and was accepted.  So if you go there then I could find a way to let you all contact each other early enough to talk about what will happen once you get there.

But again, pick the school that has your interests first and foremost.  That is the most important thing that you can do.
