drajesh Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Is it possible to change your course of study after getting admit? I mean, if one is admitted to MS/PhD in wireless communication but after joining the univ. feels that he wants to study biomedical engineering. Is it possible after joining the university?
aberrant Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 It is only possible if both the program and a PI from biomedical engineering accept your credential to their program and their labs. I'm not sure if you can do that in your first year though. It would sound shady to almost anyone.
Guest ||| Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Yes it is possible, however it is not without problems. If you try to switch in first year or very early on, it might appear that you weren't really certain of what you wanted when you applied. If you try to switch in your later years, it might look as though your hopping ship when things get a bit more committed and intense. I think it is also important to consider your supervisor. They will after all be grooming and training you with the expectation that their efforts will fruition, and instead you will go else where. I think the best thing to do, is to try your current program, be as transparent and sensitive as you can with the matter, and if you still feel the need to switch, be as flexible as possible. Lastly, keep in mind, the grass is almost always greener on the other side.
