AsNoted Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Hello, I work for a brokerage that is interested in offering an online class to its clients on Options trading. This class will introduce students to the Options market, familiarize them with relevant terminology, and cover various Options trading strategies. THE JOB We are looking for someone to write this course for us. A background in finance, or knowledge of options trading would certainly be helpful, however, as you will come to see from the rest of this job description, it is actually not necessary. What we really need is someone who can organize material on this topic into a structured and coherent lesson plan in the format that we prefer. THE SOURCES YOU WILL USE Our course will be built from three major sources: 1) An online options trading course that is already completed and freely available to the public: This course is actually almost identical to what we want to offer. Since the material covered is both common knowledge and fairly general, it is inevitable that the course you produce will bear some similarity. You may use the preexisting course as your guide, however, please do not plagiarize or steal their material. 2) A beginner level book on the basics of options trading: You will be provided with this book and an outline of the sections most relevant to your project. Use the contents of this book to help you differentiate the material you produce from that of the course described above. 3) An intermediate level book on options trading strategy: This book will probably be least helpful, but may also come in handy. You may also use whatever other sources you'd like, as long as you cite them in such a way that I can review them. ADDITIONAL RESOURCES I will monitor your progress and be available to assist you to a reasonable degree. The course material is not particularly difficult to understand nor does it require anything beyond basic mathematics. If you struggle with a topic, or need any other help, I can assist. FORMAT The course we eventually create will be offered online in the form of an interactive presentation. Slides will be presented with graphics, animations and text. The slides will be accompanied with a voiceover narration. The presentation will also include 'quizz breaks' where students will answer simple questions on the material presented. As such, you will be required to submit your work in the form of a storyboarded script. This is basically a Microsoft Word document that describes the content of each slide broken down into three columns. COLUMN 1 will be a description of any text that should appear on the screen COLUMN 2 will be script of what the narrator should be saying on this slide COLUMN 3 will be a description of any graphics that should appear on the screen. I can provide you an example of a completed storyboard and the course generated from it to give you a better idea of what to expect. You will be expected to write quiz questions as well (you can use the source material as a guide for writing quiz questions, there are also numerous sources available online to aid you) SKILLS REQUIRED While it would be helpful, you don't actually need to know anything about Options trading to write this course. The sources you will be using will give you all the information you need on the topic. Additionally, I will be available to fill you in on any blanks you may have. Finally, your work will be reviewed by experienced industry professionals to ensure that there are no major errors contained within. What we definitely require is as follows: An excellent writer: Someone who is able to write a script for narration that is clear and comprehensive. A good lesson planner: Someone who can take a bunch of concepts and organize them into a coherent and logical multi-module lesson plan A hard worker: Someone who can actually do all the grunt work of synthesizing material from different sources and putting it all on paper. TIMEFRAME I feel this entire project can be completed in two weeks. We're currently willing to set aside three weeks. If you feel it may take longer, please indicate this to us early on. PAY We are willing to pay $1,500 for this service with a bonus of $500 for exceptional work. I can give you very specific details as to what constitutes exceptional work. I would love to be able to award this bonus. RIGHTS TO MATERIAL Normally, you would be relinquishing all rights to your work by submitting it to us. You would not be cited nor would your relationship to the firm be disclosed. However, if you would like acknowledgement, a disclosed relationship or even a recommendation, all of this can be arranged with proper discussion. HOW TO PROCEED If you are interested in taking up this project, please indicate this by replying on this thread or contacting me at AsNoted@live.com . I will then provide you with additional details, direct you to the source material you will be using, and request that you produce a work sample. This constitutes your application for this contract. If awarded the job, the next step would be to sign a simple contract and confidentiality agreement. The contract will lay out the basic terms of our work agreement set up a series milestones with associated payments. Please note that we will have a number of similar upcoming projects in the near future. If this first collaboration is successful we would be happy to retain your services for additional work. FINAL NOTE I'm strongly interested in the success of this project. As such, I am interested in any positive feedback any member of this forum has to offer - whether or not you are a prospective applicant. In addition, please let me know if this has been posted in the wrong section. Thank you.
