As a side, googling these things usually suffices and looking through search engine results will be good graduate practice for you

That said it can be hectic, so I'll lend a hand

MIT does not seem to state a minimal GRE score for acceptance, and instead seems to weigh things in light of one another.  Your grades, GRE, research, references, all combine, and there isn't a set "minimal".

Take directly from a FAQ

"Outstanding undergraduate research performance sometimes means much more than grades and GRE performance in determining admissions decisions"

That said, it is going to be extremely competitive, and you can expect that it cut-throat for acceptance.

The best advise might simply be to score as high as you can given your time constraints, and to work on all parts of the application.

For the university of IOWA, they publish these statistics of their current Ph.D students

Median GRE Verbal:
410
Median GRE Quantitative:
680
Median GRE Analytical Writing:
4
Median Undergraduate GPA:

3.42

For improving your GRE, you first need to know where you currently stand and where your weaknesses are.  For instance, If you are already scoring near-perfect in math, it would make more sense to first focus on where you are weaker.

Depending on how much help you need, you can get aid from internet sites, GRE books, tutoring, lectures, and whatever else you might find helpful.

Though lectures can be quite pricy.
