siddheshmehra Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Hi. Ive gotten admits from both CMU vs UCLA for MS ECE and MS EE respectively. Now its a very confusing decision for me. As an international applicant, I do not know how much funding will be available. CMU has made it clear that no funding is available for MS applicants, while UCLA decisions will be made in April. Although UCLA is lower ranked than CMU, it is quite a bit cheaper as well. Could someone help me with the decision; is CMU really that much better than UCLA as the rankings say? Also, what is the job placement situation at both these schools. I'd appreciate help from anyone who can.
cogneuroforfun Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 The only thing I would caution you about is that living in LA will be much more expensive than living in Pittsburgh. So even if CMU tuition is higher, the costs might even out, or probably even be cheaper overall for CMU. If you do get funding at UCLA, though, that will of course help a lot. Sorry I can't help with your specific program.
nalsrayatko Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Hi, I could not help for comparing the schools, but you can find salary statistics for CMU in the following link. http://www.studentaffairs.cmu.edu/Caree ... alary.html
smith87 Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 If you can get funding from UCLA,then of course go to LA,hah, enjoy your graduate life in big city. congratulations!
