cyanblu3 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Hi so I accepted my M.Eng offer for Biomedical Engineering from Cornell for this coming fall. However, I have yet to receive any information about the fall semester ever since I sent in my deposit check for the university. I tried to call the graduate field assistant multiple times and sent her e-mails asking when I would receive information about courses, tuition payments, financial aid etc. Is this normal for graduate school? Or did I do something wrong? It is making me really anxious especially since I turned other MS offers down.
fullofpink Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 My DGS said that none of my school information (FAFSA, email account, billpay) will be avail until late June/July, and department information (class schedules, advising assignments, etc.) won't be discussed until I get there in mid-August, if that helps
fuzzylogician Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 What information are you expecting to receive? If it makes you feel any better, I don't think our new incoming class has been contact for anything and when I was an incoming student I didn't really hear anything from my department until mid-August. There's nothing much an incoming student needs to know right now, it's early in the summer and many of the faculty are away. graduate33 1
dat_nerd Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Any idea when we should be registering for fall classes? I haven't heard any information about this, and I'm trying to figure out if that's normal.
stillalivetui Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Any idea when we should be registering for fall classes? I haven't heard any information about this, and I'm trying to figure out if that's normal. At my school we aren't set to register for classes until the week before school starts. It seems a little strange to me, but I assume that's the norm for new grad students.
practical cat Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Any idea when we should be registering for fall classes? I haven't heard any information about this, and I'm trying to figure out if that's normal. Your school should have an academic calendar online and this info should be on there. If not, check with the grad school. This varies tremendously. I don't register until August 15, but I know people who have already registered.
peternewman89 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I got an email with info about orientation 2 days ago, and now have access to the whole student account thing along with my course catalog. Can't sign up for anything until 7/24 though,
Arrowfletch Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I was told that I would get information regarding registration at some point in July, along with a suggested class schedule. Right now I'm just biding my time.
Panama Slim Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Online registration has already started for my program. While I am still waiting for my immunization hold to clear, one class I wanted has already filled up with an additional 4 on the wait list. I guess there will always be a wait list!
mpheels Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I have all the financial stuff squared away, and my program has posted a tentative orientation schedule. Orientation is two days in late August, including lunch with my advisor. I can't register for classes until 6pm on the day of the lunch.
