nathancotephoto Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I'm going to reapply next year most likely and was hoping that anyone could help me find some great books that would help me to better describe other artist's work as well as my own. It doesn't need to be how to describe art for dummies but more along the idea of others writing about current and contemporary artists. I love art history as well so anything about art over the last few hundred years would be interesting as well.
jenmariepainter Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 art writing by david carrier writing about art by sylvan barnett i've used both of those at times.

nathancotephoto Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 I bought art now volume 2 and 3 which seem to be quite good. Lots of great images and discusses some of the work. Anyone else know of some great books?
KittyKat Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Grove would be my suggestion as well. Also, I don't know if you'd considered it but there are some really great blogs out there on this kind of thing. Starting your own can even be good practice as well. Here are a couple I recommend: http://structureandimagery.blogspot.com/?m=1 http://anythingimagined.blogspot.com/2012/08/art-history-franz-marc.html?m=1
