As a current student I can say it is a pretty diverse place both in terms of opinions and experiences, I am an international minority student and can safely say it is a pretty liberal place and with lots of diversity, however there are students with very diverse opinions and everywhere in the political spectrum, I think one of the great things is that it teaches you to see policies for what they are and not on their place in the political spectrum. Having said that though , you would have a hard time finding very conservative people, some joke that the Bush school stole them all. Professors are very approachable but I have to agree when I wanted to visit it took me a while as it was just after I was accepted and they were on Spring break, but when I visited they were very accommodating even if my past correspondence was not, one thing though, our admissions coordinator is currently on vacations so that might have been the issue. If you live around here I might recommend attending some of our events which might be a non academic way of getting a feel from the school.
