Quick question: I'm curious, are there any programs (links would be awesome but just a name would be great too. as long as you can steer me in some direction) that allows their students to get a PhD in psychology but a second Masters in another field? I know Brown has it but anyone else?

I'm looking to get PhD in social psychology and my masters in international relations. I'm just wondering if I have to do one first or can I do both at the same time at any school besides Brown (who simply requires an extra year of school I think). I want to do international research on War and human rights from a psychological standpoint.

If there ISNT any school like that since my GPA isn't the highest in the world [ UGA: 3.3 (Major GPA 3.8), (Psych GPA 3.45), GRE: V 161 Q 165 A 5.0, Psych Subject Test 92 percentile ] would it be maybe wiser to do my masters first in IA, do well in it and then get my PhD and use the grades from my IA masters to boost up my PhD chances?

In psychology, what matters the most (at least from all of the mentors that I've had in university) is research and potential to do research, so I don't think an IA masters will necessarily increase your chances, other than showing that you have the potential to succeed in graduate program.

If I were you, I'd look into Peace Psychology programs. I can't think of many off the top of my head, but that sounds like the way that you might want to go, at least within the social psychology field.

Notre Dame and the Kroc Institute offer a dual PhD in Psychology and Peace Studies, the University of Massachusetts has the PhD program in the Psychology of Violence and Conflict, Clark University has the PhD in Social Psychology and Holocaust Studies, Georgetown has a dual PhD in Psychology and MPP with a lot of research in intergroup conflict. University of Denver has dual programs with a Ph.D in psychology and a Master's in international affairs. There are lots of options out there if you utilize google.
