james2014 Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Hello. I was wondering how important you guys think it is to take grad-level science classes as an undergrad. How much does it really help your application? Is it viewed as a significant advantage when applications are being reviewed? Thanks!
Eigen Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Not really. Might make your first semester a bit easier, but I wouldn't say it's necessary. Courses are a very small part of a Chem degree, with the big part being research. Lots of research experience, and letters attesting to your competency are what will get you in.
Guest ||| Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 It might be useful for you to get a feel of graduate school, and to mingle with fellow graduate students (perhaps even ask on their opinion of graduate school). Â But in terms of making you more competitive, the impact will most likely be minimal.Â
