andrew456 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Would it be better to choose a lower ranked school where there is a higher chance of getting a good GPA or choose a very highly ranked school with a higher possibility of getting a low GPA? I'm wondering because I graduated from a top 20 engineering school with a sub 3.0 GPA and I may not fit well at a top grad school. I'm not sure if the job prospects will be better with a high GPA from a not so known graduate school vs. a low GPA from a worldwide known top university. Edited August 22, 2013 by andrew456
Lisa44201 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Your better bet might be to apply to a selection of both, and see what sort of offers you get.
Guest ||| Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 For graduate school, by the time you finish your GPA won't be worth much weight. Given a great gpa and a school that has a poor reputation, or a poor gpa from a school with a great reputation, id go for the latter. That said I'd aim for neither.
biochemistry professor Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 No one cares about your graduate GPA. Go to the best school you can.
