Would it be better to choose a lower ranked school where there is a higher chance of getting a good GPA or choose a very highly ranked school with a higher possibility of getting a low GPA?

I'm wondering because I graduated from a top 20 engineering school with a sub 3.0 GPA and I may not fit well at a top grad school. I'm not sure if the job prospects will be better with a high GPA from a not so known graduate school vs. a low GPA from a worldwide known top university.

For graduate school, by the time you finish your GPA won't be worth much weight.

Given a great gpa and a school that has a poor reputation, or a poor gpa from a school with a great reputation, id go for the latter.

That said I'd aim for neither.
