mmmh Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I'm accepted into a master's program in the states and the school requires me to get my own health insurance. Any recommendation where to look?
kahlan_amnell Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 That will depend what state you're moving to. Not many health insurance companies are national, and different companies are better in each state. That said, check if there is any health insurance you can get through the school. Most schools offer it, especially to international students.

joro Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Yes, definitely check with what your school has to offer. I think they may be cheaper to buy, though I'm not sure what is covered.
gsams Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Check with your school. Type in "University of X health insurance" and something should come up. Most schools offer something at a reduced rate. Sometimes it sucks, other times it is good. My UG institution didn't offer the best health insurance to grad students, but the place I am seriously considering does have great offerings. If you are getting a stipendship or fellowship, it may cover all or some of your health insurance, too.
pietjekanarie Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Where are you from? If this would be the case, I can take a special kind of "living abroad" health insurance from my own country. This covers everything and is usually much cheaper than regular US insurance (unless you get discount through the school maybe). Maybe you have a similar option.
