faerare Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on the number of schools one should apply to for biostats Ph.D. programs. Is there a recommended range, or does it depend more on profile strength? Thanks in advance. I have nine schools on my list currently, and they are a mix of sizes and rankings. I'm not sure if this is enough or too many.
cyberwulf Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 6-10 programs is the usual range; what's more interesting is which programs make up the list. It's possible to make a very reasonable list of 5 and a completely crazy list of 15.
Igotnothin Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 10! Many fewer and you'll have regrets if you don't have any acceptances; many more and you will drive yourself crazy with application materials. Also I'm not sure I could name more than about 15 biostats programs...
