wtfnouniquenames Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Anyone have an idea how NPSIA looks at GPA? CGPA, Last 2(I know the poli sci graduate program at Carleton uses this), program GPA? I have a lackluster 3.2 CGPA due to a bad semester second year (family issues) - The last two and Program GPA are both 3.8. Would they consider the dramatic upward swing and program GPA more than the CGPA? Sorry for the cliche and annoying questions, but I'd rather not get my hopes up if I don't stand much of a chance as far as GPA is concerned.
juilletmercredi Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 This is such a specific question that you may want to ask the departmental secretary of the department to which you are applying if he or she knows the answer. Most graduate programs look at all of your GPAs, although some may weight last 60 or major GPA more heavily than cumulative. A 3.2 is not that low. I always say the only person who can shut you out before you even start is you. Just apply and see what happens.
wtfnouniquenames Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 I appreciate the advice. I've sent the department an email, but they must be swamped because it's been two days without a response
