ed_psy Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Do personal statements/goal statements need to be double spaced? Most of the schools I am applying to indicate what they would like for me to write about and a page limit (3 pages). I have a great paper written, but it is 4 pages double spaced. When I single space it, it is 2! Thoughts? Thanks!! Single spaced. I use the Header to put my name, school and program applying to (although I think they have it embedded when they print out the completed application, but just on the safe side) schoolpsy15 1
iphi Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I think I varied from 1.15 to 1.5 fore read-ability's sake. But single space is fine if they don't specify anything! schoolpsy33 1
ed_psy Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Can anyone help me out. For one of the schools I want to apply to it says "Two LOR are required. These letters should address the candidate's scholarly, professional, & personal qualifications for graduate training. Faculty & supervisors of research & clinical work are appropriate references, not family and friends. Former or current professors should prepare at least one of the letters." For the last sentence, does it mean professors who taught me class or it can be the professor in the lab I am working for. -Much appreciated~

Thanks for your reply. My problem is it's been a few years since I graduated I'm afraid the professors don't really remember me. I emailed a couple of them who declined to write me one stating they don't really remember who I am and all they can talk about is whatever that's in the transcript. Anyone ever had this issue?
iphi Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 It's tough, but there's not really a way around it. Have you ever had your lab prof for a class?

SchoolPsych_NYC Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Hey guys! I started a thread for 2014 applicants! this one is from 2013-2014..
khowe54 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Hi. I don't know if this question has been answered, but here goes! I noticed that most EdS programs allow for certification in the state in which the school is located. Does that mean you can only be certified in that state after receiving the EdS certification. Also what is the average pricing for an EdS program without any financial aid? Thanks! and good luck to those applying!

If the program is NASP accredited you can apply for NCSP licensing (can easily move states). Tuition depends on in-state/out of state, public or private school. Expect to pay about $30k total, I would say.
potentialpsychologist Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Tuition depends on in-state/out of state, public or private school. Expect to pay about $30k total, I would say. I would advise khowe54 to expect to pay a lot more than that. Assuming we're talking about a standard three-year (two years of classes, one year internship) master's & EdS program, it's about 60 credits. Cost per credit varies a lot, but my state school is about $790. Multiply that by 60, it's $47,400. That doesn't include all the extra fees, which are nearly $2000 per semester. Plus living expenses if you don't work full time during school.
Antonia Ps Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Hello! I am interested in becoming a school psychologist and I would like to ask you for some help. I am from Greece and I wonder if it is easy for an international student to be accepted . I am asking you this because I started by exploring my options in the UK and realised that if you are not a UK resident things are not really promising. If someone knows something about it you will save me some time as I saw that the list of the programs is huge and I actually don't know where to start with. I hold a Psychology degree and have six years of teaching experience. So, if you think I should try please give me an idea of programs which are affordable or offer financial aid and are of good quality.

Just work on crafting a very good essay. But from my experience SP programs tend to like international students.
