kdavid Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I've finished my first draft of my SOP. Most programs have a 1,000-word limit. I'm thus using that as my base from which I'll modify. At present, my draft is: 32% undergraduate and work experience 29% MA coursework and thesis 21% research interests 18% program specific, fit, and location The few people from which I've received feedback thus far have said that I should minimize everything pre-MA and focus more on MA coursework and future research. What do you all think about this format?

I agree with the advice you've received. An SoP should be forward looking. ~30% for your MA work is fine but I would say you need to more or less double the amount of time you're spending on your research interests. If you can link your MA thesis and your future research that's even better.
